UAE Holidays Calendar: Significant Dates for 2024

With the hustle and bustle of daily life, everyone eagerly anticipates those rare long weekends to unwind and recharge. Luckily, in the UAE, there are several public holidays scattered throughout the year, offering ample opportunities for a well-deserved break.

Let’s take a look at the significant upcoming dates in 2024 that you should mark on your calendar to plan your next getaway. While we’re still awaiting the exact dates for some holidays, like Eid Al Adha, which hinge on moon sightings, the tally remains at 14 days.

Whether you’re looking to explore the serene beaches of Fujairah, indulge in retail therapy in Dubai, or experience cultural heritage in Abu Dhabi, these holidays provide the perfect excuse to escape the routine and embark on an adventure. With six public holidays still on the horizon for 2024, it’s never too early to start plotting your time off.

Eid Al Adha

In 2024, UAE workers are in for a treat with a five-day holiday on the horizon, according to the latest predictions from April. If all goes as expected, Arafat Day 2024 will fall on Sunday, June 16, which will be the second day of the week long Hajj pilgrimage. This sets the stage for Eid al Adha to start on Sunday, June 16, followed by two more days of celebration on Monday, June 18, and Tuesday, June 19. With the weekend thrown in, that’s a solid four days to unwind. Plus, for those feeling adventurous, a savvy move of just a couple of days of annual leave can stretch the holiday to a glorious nine days.

Islamic New Year

Islamic New Year marks the beginning of the Islamic lunar calendar. This year it is expected to fall on Sunday July 7. It’s uncertain whether there will be a public holiday on a regular workday following.

Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Birthday

Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Birthday is a significant Islamic holiday celebrated to honour the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It’s expected to fall on Sunday September 15.

National Day

UAE National Day commemorates the unification of the Emirates and the establishment of the United Arab Emirates on 2nd December 1971. It’s a joyous occasion marked by various festivities, including parades, fireworks, and cultural events, celebrating the country’s heritage and progress. In 2024, UAE National Day will fall on Sunday December 1, meaning you can expect a public holiday on Monday December 2 and Tuesday December 3.

So, whether you’re looking forward to spending time with family and friends or exploring the beauty of the Emirates, these holidays offer the perfect opportunity to unwind and create lasting memories. So, mark your calendars and get ready to embrace the holiday spirit and enjoy some well-deserved time off!
